2025 Service Changes
This article is written for: Zello Work Zello Friends & Family.
Zello is implementing important updates to enhance the reliability, security, and performance of our services. As part of these improvements, we are discontinuing support for older versions of the Zello apps. These older versions will stop working and must be updated to continue using Zello.
Deprecated Zello Versions
Effective 25 June 2025 Zello is deprecating older Zello app versions:
- Android app versions older than 6.0.2 (Note: newer versions no longer support Android OS versions earlier than 7)
- iOS app versions older than 6.1 (Note: newer versions no longer support iOS versions earlier than 14)
- Legacy PC app – all versions
To continue using Zello, update your Zello app to a supported version.
Workaround for Older Versions
If you are not able to upgrade to a supported version of Zello app, as a workaround you can disable TLS encryption. To do this:
On iOS:
- Tap on your profile
- Select Settings -> Support -> Advances settings
- Turn off “Enable TLS”
On Android:
- Tap three dot menu in the top right corner
- Select Options -> Support -> Advanced settings
- Turn off “Enable TLS”
On Legacy PC app:
- In the menu, select Tools -> Options
- In the Zello options dialog select Connection
- Turn off “Enable TLS”
Important note: we do not recommend this configuration. With TLS is disabled, Zello connections are no longer encrypted (though we apply additional encryption on the content sent).
